Sell Individual Sessions: Standalone Pricing & Purchase Links

Last updated: April 2026  |  Applies to: Event Admins  |  Feature status: Beta

What Is Individual Session Purchase?

Eventspot lets you sell access to individual sessions without requiring attendees to purchase a full event ticket. Each sellable session gets its own purchase link that you can share via email campaigns, your website, social media, or a landing page.

It works well for monetising specific content within a broader event, opening select sessions to a wider audience, or offering premium add-ons to existing attendees.

Before You Start: Session Type Requirement

Individual session purchase is only available on sessions set to "With Ticket & Public" (Additional).

The table below shows how the session types compare:

    ‍
  • General & Public: Visible to all attendees, no ticket required, individual purchase not available
  • General & Private: Visible only to manually added attendees, no ticket required, individual purchase not available
  • With Ticket & Public: Visible to everyone, ticket required, individual purchase available
  • With Ticket & Private: Visible only to valid ticket holders, ticket required, individual purchase not available

"With Ticket & Public" makes the session visible to everyone on the event platform but restricts access to those who have purchased or been assigned a valid ticket. It is the only session type that supports individual purchase configuration.

Setting Up Individual Session Purchase

Step 1: Set the Session Type

When creating or editing a session, set the Session Type field to "With Ticket & Public".

Step 2: Enable Individual Purchase

A section labelled "Allow Individual Session Purchase" will appear below. Check the box to activate it.

This is a Beta feature. Once enabled, the pricing and attendee settings expand below the checkbox.

Step 3: Choose a Pricing Type

Two options are available. Free and Paid.

You can choose between:

  • Free: Attendees register at no cost but still go through a checkout flow
  • Paid: Requires you to set a price and currency

When Paid is selected, the following fields become available:

  • Currency: Select from supported Stripe currencies
  • Price: Minimum value is 2 (supports decimals, e.g. 29.99)
  • Accept Payments: Choose how payment will be collected

Step 4: Choose a Payment Mode

Paid sessions support three payment options:

  • Online via Gateway: Payment is processed through Stripe at checkout
  • Offline (Cheque, Cash, or other means ): Payment is handled outside the platform
  • Online & Offline: Both options are available and the attendee chooses at checkout

Step 5: Configure Attendee Access

The Allow new attendees to purchase toggle controls who can access the session:

  • Disabled (default): Only existing event attendees can purchase
  • Enabled: Anyone with the link can purchase and will be added as a new attendee

When enabled, additional fields appear:

  • User Category for New Attendees: Assigns new buyers to a category (e.g. Workshop Participant)
  • Registration Form: Basic info only: Collects first name, last name, and email
  • Registration Form: Category checkout form: Uses the full registration form tied to the selected category

The Session Purchase Link

Once the session is saved with Individual Purchase enabled, a Session Purchase Link will appear in the session edit form.

The link follows this format:
{your-event-frontend-url}/sessions/{sessionid}

This link opens a standalone page where users can view session details and complete a purchase or free registration without going through the main event portal. You can copy the link directly from the session form, open it in a new tab to preview, or share it independently of your main registration link.

Note: The purchase link only appears after the session has been saved. It is not available during the initial creation process, so save the session first and then reopen it.

Practical Use Cases

  • Masterclasses and workshops at a paid conference. Sell access to hands-on workshops as a paid add-on for existing attendees, or open them to outside participants who are not attending the main conference.
  • Premium sessions within a free event. Monetise high-value sessions such as expert panels, fireside chats, and certification workshops without changing the overall event pricing.
  • Pre-conference intensives. Offer a full-day workshop the day before your main event at a separate price and share the session purchase link in your pre-event communications.
  • Post-event session access. Sell access to a recorded session made available on-demand after the live event, generating ongoing revenue from your content.
  • Certification or accreditation sessions. Charge a fee for sessions that carry CPD credits, certification, or formal accreditation while keeping general sessions free.
  • Hybrid events, remote-only attendees. Sell virtual access to a specific in-person session via its standalone URL without requiring remote attendees to register for the full event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I sell a session without setting up a full event ticket?

Yes. Individual session purchase creates its own internal session ticket automatically. You do not need to create or link a separate event-level ticket.

Q: Can I make a session free but still require registration?

Yes. Enable Individual Session Purchase and select Free as the pricing type. Attendees will go through a registration step before gaining access, giving you a record of who signed up.

Q: The Session Purchase Link is not showing. Why?

The link only appears when editing an existing session, not during the initial creation flow. Save the session first, then reopen it to find the link.

Q: Can people who are not registered for my event buy a session?

Only if the "Allow new attendees to purchase" option is enabled. When on, anyone with the session link can purchase and will be added as a new attendee under the category and registration form you configure.

Q: What currency should I use?

The currency list comes from your Stripe integration. Make sure your Stripe account is connected and supports the currency you intend to charge in. The minimum chargeable amount is 2 units of the selected currency.

Q: Can I offer both online and offline payment for the same session?

Yes. Select "Online & Offline" as the payment mode and the attendee will choose their preferred method at checkout.

Q: What attendee category should I assign to new purchasers?

Choose a category that reflects the access level these attendees should have at your event. If the session is a standalone purchase with no other event access, a dedicated category such as "Session-Only" with appropriately scoped permissions works well.

Q: Can I set different prices for different sessions?

Yes. Pricing is configured per session, so each "With Ticket & Public" session can have its own price, currency, and payment mode.

Q: Is this available on all plan levels?

Individual session purchase is a Beta feature and availability depends on your current plan. If the option is not visible on your session form, contact your Eventspot account manager.

Q: Where does the session purchase link take buyers?

It opens a standalone session detail and checkout page on your event's web portal. Buyers do not need to navigate through your main event registration page and the URL works independently of the Eventspot platform.

Q: Can I use this for private or restricted sessions?

No. Individual session purchase is only available for "With Ticket & Public" sessions. The "With Ticket & Private" and "General & Private" types do not support this feature.

For Stripe setup and payment processing, see the Payments & Integrations guide. For session types and visibility settings, see the Session Types guide.
